Retired Naval Senior Chief Walter Ronald Scott, Sr. DOB 2/19/47- DOD 2/7/24
Skidmore, Texas - Retired Naval Senior Chief Walter Ronald Scott, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep
on Wednesday evening, February 7th, surrounded by family.
Walter was born in Lamesa, Texas and joined the United States Air Force after graduating from high
school. After serving in the U.S Air Force, as a Radio Man. Walter transferred to the U.S. Navy, where he
served as an Air Traffic Controller.
After Walter retired, he and his wife Lena moved to Skidmore to be closer to their sons’ and their
families. He was an active member of the Skidmore First Baptist Church. Walter was very generous and
helped family and those in need when possible. He was an avid reader and learner of world and military
history and enjoyed science fiction novels. Walter was also a very dedicated pet owner who, with his
wife, cared for a plethora of cats, and he loved their loyal dog, Pockets, very much.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Lena Ilene Ashley Scott, his two sons
and their wives, Walter Ronald Jr. and Victoria Lain Scott, Steven Dewayne and Tara Scott, four
grandchildren Walter Ryan and Dylan Bristol Scott, Sara Jones and Kara Gonzales. Kara’s husband Joe
Rey Gonzales and their six children, eight great grandchildren, along with his older sister Doris.
Walter was preceded in death by his father Walter Raleigh Scott, Edith Ima Bruce Scott, and two older
sisters, Juanita, and Ruby.
Even though Walter will be greatly missed by those who loved him, we are comforted that he is now
resting peacefully in Heaven with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
