Valentin "Popeye" Amador, Jr.

BEEVILLE – Valentin “Popeye” Amador, Jr., 83, passed away on May 4, 2022. He was born on March 9, 1939, in Beeville, Texas to Valentin and Lina (Salazar) Amador. He married Isabel Rodriguez on August 4, 1956, in Beeville, Texas. He was retired from the oilfield construction industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Isabel “Chavela” Amador and one son, Israel Amador.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Jane (Ricardo) Cantu and Lina (Kay Mancias) Amador; three sons, Valentin (Patricia Garcia) Amador III, David (Adela) Amador and Daniel (Patricia) Amador; one brother, Pedro Amador of Victoria, and sister, Ursula Guajardo of Beeville. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Saturday, May 7, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 9, at Our Lady of Victory Church with Fr. Isaias Estepa as celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricardo Cantu, Jr, Israel Amador, Jr, Daniel David Amador, Claudio Rene Mancias, Abelardo Lee Suniga and John Thomas Amador.
