Robert Macuba Obituary

Robert Rudolph Macuba “Uncle Bob”

Robert Macuba, born on January 26, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to Rudolph & Marie Macuba passed away peacefully after receiving his anointing of the sick sacrament at his home in Channelview, Texas on February 22, 2025.

Robert was a devoted family man and is survived by his beloved sons, Jim and his wife Laura, who have three children: Brittany, Olivia, and Cole; Bob and his wife Angela, and their two children Sean and Megan, Joey and his wife Lisa, with their children Joe, Kyle, Mickinze, and Alyssa. He was also survived by his cherished great grandchildren, Levi, Darlyn, and Hazely. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Beatriz Contreras Macuba “Mom”, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage and both parents Rudy and Marie. Though he was an only child, he loved and appreciated the brothers and sisters he gained by joining Bea’s large family who loved him fiercely in return.

A proud Army veteran, Bob served in the US Army medical corp. at Fort Rucker Alabama from 1964-1967 and was certified in Radiography. This is where he met his wife Bea, whom he cherished for the rest of his life.

Following his service, he had a career in medical imaging that spanned over 40 years in Chicago & Houston. He was one of the first techs to do CT scans and later MRI. He later went back to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in medical Imaging from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls Texas.

Throughout his life, Robert had a passion for reading and enjoyed running, which kept him active and engaged. He was also an avid coin collector; a hobby that brought him joy and satisfaction as he discovered the stories behind each piece.

Robert will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and the love he shared with his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life in Beeville Texas on Saturday, March 1st, at 11am at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. His ashes will be interned with his true love in Beeville at a later time.
