BEEVILLE – Mrs. Rinda Young, 80, passed away on January 13, 2022. She was born on July 23, 1941, in Yakima, Washington. She married John Young on Aug. 12, 1961, in Alameda, California. She retired in August of 2008 as a bookkeeper from Professional Controller, formerly Fish Oilwell Service, after many years of service.
Her family moved to Campbell, CA in 1957 where she graduated from high school and immediately enlisted in the US Navy as a WAVE. She was Honorably Discharged in 1962 to have her first child. Rinda was an avid reader of books and magazines for years and was a skilled ATARI player and PAC-MAN wizard. She loved going to the movies with her daughters and playing Bunco was also one of her favorite pastimes
She was a faithful member of Adams Street Church of Christ and had volunteered for many years at the local hospital as a member of the Spohn Ladies Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Patricia (Hargreaves) Miller and one grandson, Cody Randall Jones.
She is survived by her husband, John Young of Beeville; two daughters, Julie (Harvey) Hardwick of George West and Jennie (Gilbert) Vandever of Beeville; one son, Douglas Roy (Tisha) Young of Stephenville, Tx; two sisters, Marilyn Strickland and Lois Denholm both of Georgetown, Tx. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and was blessed with numerous bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren and her beloved pet cat, “Nugget”.
Visitation will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm with Mr. Douglas Roy Young officiating.
