Rhoda Roberta Dunn

Rhoda Roberta Dunn, 88, passed away on September 17, 2025.  She was born in Beeville, Texas on October 18, 1936, to Jack A. and Roberta Brown Pennington.  Her dad passed away when she was two and her mother married Don Gardner who she later knew as her dad. 

Rhoda was a strong, loving and caring person.  She graduated from A.C. Jones High School then graduated from Bee County College with a Dental Hygiene Degree. She worked for Dr Dudley Braly for over 30 years as his Dental Hygienist.  

Rhoda married Berlin Eugene Dunn on October 23, 1953, in Beeville, Texas.  They were married for 45 years until he passed away on March 6, 1998.  They were blessed with 4 beautiful children: Deborah Dianne Higdon (Jerry), Donald Ernest Dunn (Wanda), Thomas Dewayne Dunn (Kim), Patricia Ann Edwards (Ricky).  She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Julie Brann (Steve), Emily Hasel, Jasen Higdon (Tammy), Justin Higdon (Brandi), Stacy King (Jimmie), Mark Edwards Jr (Sarah), Dustin Edwards (Maranda), and Colton Edwards.  She also has 20 great-grandchildren: Preston, Maddox, Abbi, Maci, Teagan, Connor, Brett, Marcia, Judd, Sterling, Peyton, Ethan, Kelsey, Chandler, Jacob, Skyler, Sidney, Destiny, Brylee, Kaylee.

Rhoda was proceeded in death by her husband Berlin Dunn, Mother Roberta Pennington Gardener, Birthfather Jack Pennington, Stepfather Don Gardener. who was the only dad she knew, Brother Mathis Dee Pennington, Grandma Roberta Dinn (God-grandmother).

Rhoda was a member of the Beeville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 60 years. Rhoda joined the Ladies Auxiliary on September 13, 1965, and served faithfully until transitioning to that of an honorary member in September 2022. She was awarded her 55-year service pin in 2021. Not only was Rhoda involved with helping the Beeville Fire Department through the Ladies’ Auxiliary for over 5 decades. She also served in the Beeville Community as a member of the Like-A-Bee Home Demonstration Club, TEEA, NARFE, Garden Club and Quilting Club and was a member of the Beeville United Methodist Church.  She was involved with the youth in 4-H, FFA, and Homemaking by volunteering with the Bee Co Jr Livestock and Homemakers Show and surrounding counties.

 Visitation will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, September 23, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Pastor Bethany Santos officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Robbie Guerrero, Alden Southmayd, Kevin Folsom, Bill Burris, Roger Perkins and Kevin Behr. Honorary pallbearers are the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Beeville Volunteer Fire Department, Harold Herrman, Bryon Dugat, Derek Franco, Ronnie Jones, Robert Horn and Doug Holland.
