Raul (Rudy) Martinez Garcia

BEEVILLE – Raul (Rudy) Martinez Garcia, 76, of Beeville, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was born on January 18, 1947, in Beeville, Texas to Santos and Maria (Martinez) Garcia.

     Rudy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970 with an Honorable Discharge. He traveled to Japan, Philippine’s, and Vietnam, during his tours of duty.

     After his discharge from the military, he moved back to Texas and resided in Corpus Christi with his family. He began working for UPS washing trucks and worked his way up, becoming the Next Day Air Manager in Laredo, and then in San Antonio. After his retirement from UPS, he opened and managed the City Limits Club in Beeville. He later opened Affordable Insurance Company, before retiring once again.

     He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David Garcia, Santos Garcia, and Oscar Garcia; brother-in-law, Rudy Flores and sister-in-law, Sandra M. Garcia.

     Rudy is survived by his two sons, Anthony (Nancy) Garcia of San Antonio, and Nickolas Silverleaf of Beeville; three grandchildren, AJ (Morgan) Garcia and Austin (Sydney) Garcia both of New Braunfels and Alyssa Garcia of San Antonio; one sister, Elida G. Flores of Beeville and two brothers, Manuel Garcia of Beeville and Larry (Dolores) Garcia of San Antonio, Tx.

     A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Pete Elizardo as celebrant. The interment will follow at 1 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas with full military honors.

     Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Garcia, AJ Garcia, Austin Garcia, Michael Gonzales, Nikolas Silverleaf and Manuel Garcia, Jr.
