Olivia C. Vargas

BEEVILLE – Mrs. Olivia C. Vargas, 91, passed away on November 28, 2022, in Mathis, Texas. She was born on April 6, 1931, in Leesville, Texas to Moses and Josefina (Castillo) Casares. She married Ignacio Vargas on March 20, 1945, in La Mesa, Texas, who preceded her in death, on May 28, 2013.

     She is also preceded in death by one son, Gilbert Vargas; one brother, Gilbert Casares and one sister, Irene Arevalo.

     She is survived by two daughters, Adela “DeeDee” (Higinio) Casarez of Beeville and Lidia Gonzales of San Antonio; one son, Adolfo Vargas of New Braunfels and two sisters, Amelia C. Clark of Houston, and Lydia Hernandez of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

     Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Oak Park Memorial Chapel with Deacon Santos Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

     Serving as pallbearers are Gary Gonzales, Brian Gonzales, Garren Gonzales, Chris Casarez, CJ Casarez and Paul Charles (PJ) Dancer. Honorary pallbearers are Raul Casarez, Raul Casarez Jr., Lane Kellum and Matthew Henry.
