BEEVILLE – Mrs. Melba Kay Ponce, 71, passed away on March 27, 2023. She was born on February 20, 1952, in Beeville, Texas to Juventino and Dominga (Gamez) Ponce. She had worked as a substitute teacher for Beeville Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juventino and Dominga Ponce and one brother, Juventino Ponce, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (Eddie) Ray (Jade Loryn Trevino) Del Toro of Beeville and Julio Omar (Amanda) Del Toro of Richmond; six grandchildren, Violet Rae Del Toro, Saturnina Renai Del Toro, Embree Nevaeh Martinez, Emina Ray Del Toro, Kambrie Jo Del Toro and Edward Ray Del Toro III; five sisters, Ima Ponce of Beeville, Ida (Max) Acosta of New Orleans, LA., Gloria Galbraith of Beeville, Viola (Serj) Bedrossian and Natalia Fay (Pete) Sadeghi both of Stafford and a sister-in-law, Delia Ponce of Stafford. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, March 31, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, April 1, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Valayath as celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Bedrossian, Jerrick Baldillez, Jade Baldillez, Diego Sadeghi, Ben Sadeghi, Elias Guzman, Mark Ponce and Brandon Herrera.
