Mary Valdez Obituary

Mary S. Valdez, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 2, 2026, at the age of 77.

Mary was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on September 26, 1948, to Reynaldo Alvarado, Sr. and Domitila Saldivar Alvarado. Throughout her life, she embodied the values of honor, integrity, loyalty, and an unwavering love for her family. These principles guided her remarkable journey and inspired countless lives.

Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She spent many years employed at Sarah Lee and later worked for National Republic, one of the world’s largest banks in the world. After returning to Texas, she continued her strong work ethic during her many years at Wolff’s Travel Stop in Three Rivers. Wherever she worked, Mary was known for her reliability, kindness, and warm spirit.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George A. Valdez; her parents, Reynaldo Alvarado, Sr. and Domitila Saldivar Alvarado; and her brothers, Reynaldo Alvarado, Jr. and Richard “Rock” Alvarado.

Mary is lovingly survived by her children: Anthony (Brenda) DeLaRosa Jr. of Beeville, Texas; Joel (Crystal) Valdez of Corpus Christi, Texas; Alexander (Cecilia) Valdez of Orange Grove, Texas.  She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brittany (Miguel) Lugo, Anthony (Stephanie) DeLaRosa III, Thomas and Matthew Valdez, and Alexander and Avien Valdez. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Julianna and Arlo DeLaRosa, who brought her immense joy.

Mary will also be deeply missed by her sister, Manuelita “Mimi” Sosa and brother Roger Alvarado of Cotulla, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She had a love for the casino and was known for her lucky streak, something she enjoyed with a smile and a laugh. Her warmth, strength, and loving spirit will be remembered always.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4599 Business 181 N. , Beeville, Texas 78102. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
