Marilyn Bean Obituary

     Marilyn G. Bean, 89, of Mineral, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, surrounded by her two loving daughters after a long battle with dementia.

     Marilyn was born on February 22, 1935, to the late Roland and Matilda Westphal of Runge, Texas. She graduated from South West Texas State Teacher’s College in San Marcos with a Bain Art. While in school she traveled throughout Mexico and Europe helping other along her way. In 1958 she married Clifton (Sonny) Bean and moved to Beeville, Texas. Teaching over 40 years with Beeville ISD and St. Joseph Catholic School she touched many young lives and encouraged them to better their education. After retiring she became a docent at the Beeville Art Museum where she continued to help kids learn about art, her passion. Drawing and painting many beautiful pictures in her lifetime. The hobbies she enjoyed were bowling, traveling and spending time with family. Marilyn was always such a positive influence and adored by many. She touched so many people through her life with her beautiful smile and caring ways.

     Marilyn leaves behind her two daughters, Cindy and Bobby Urban and Sunni Bean; two granddaughters, Kacey and Johnathon Tupa and Harley O’Neal; two great grandsons, Braxton and Brooks Tupa and one nephew, Tim Westphal.

     She is preceded in death by the late Mike and Pat Westphal and her brother, Gaylord Westphal.

     A gracious and special thanks to Anysia Gomez and her loving and caring staff of the Gramman House who cared and stayed with Marilyn throughout her stay. She loved every one of you so much. Also, thank you to Exclusive Hospice and Dr. Joseph Larakers.

     Visitation will be held at 9:00am on Thursday, January 16, at Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville. A memorial service will follow at 10:00am with Pastor Don Taylor officiating.
