Julia R. Arguijo, age 89, born November 26, 1936, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Beeville, Texas. Julia, known to many as Julie, was faithful, selfless, and supportive of her family, friends, and even her family’s friends. If you knew her, you knew she was witty, smart, and one of the most loving souls you could ever encounter.
Julia was born in Karnes City and raised in Beeville as the youngest of eight children, with seven siblings, five sisters and two brothers. A hardworking woman through and through, she also knew the importance of celebration. She loved hosting holidays and gatherings, opening her home to everyone. Though her house was small, you wouldn’t notice because it always felt full of warmth, laughter, and love.
A devout Catholic, Julia was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She lived her faith daily, attending church several times a week, reading her Bible every day, and faithfully praying for her loved ones. Over the span of 70 years, she made numerous pilgrimages to San Juan, Texas, to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle. Julia was always present for those she loved, attending countless milestones and celebrations. She believed the most important part of life was simply being there to support and celebrate the successes of those who meant so much to her.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Epifania Garcia; her husband, Gilbert Arguijo; great grandson, Christopher J. Soto; two brothers, Adan Rodriguez and Gregorio Rodriguez and five sisters, Maria Duran, Mary Lou Sanchez, Ninfa R. Munoz, Dora R. Baltazar and Rebecca R. Reed.
Julia’s love and cherished memories live on through her sister, Eva Gutierrez; her daughters, Emily Joyce Guerra and Debra Guerra Trevino; her son, George Anthony Arguijo; seven grandchildren, Felicia M. Guerrero, Cecilio Andrew (Melinda) Ortiz, Aaron R. (Oanh Hernandez) Ortiz, Gilbert Lee (Kyle) Trevino Peek, Julie Louise (Eloy) Flores, Amber Elaine (Nick) Weinheimer, Caleb Elias Duran, Kiristin Jessica Arriaga and Imagen Arguijo; great grandchildren, Korina Odom, Shawn Guerrero, Mark Ortiz, Cecilia Ortiz, Angel Andrew Ortiz, Aaron A. Ortiz, Ryan A. Ortiz, Eli Flores, Evan Flores, Elise Flores, Jace Weinheimer and Bryson Weinheimer; great great grandchildren, Christopher J. Soto, Jr., Dominic J. Soto, Zachary M. Soto, Rosalie I. Ozorio and Isabella Ortiz.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 19, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Gilbert Lee Trevino, Andrew Ortiz, Aaron R. Ortiz, Shawn Guerrero, Aaron A. Ortiz, Eloy Flores, Eli Flores and Evan Flores.
In Julia’s own words, “When it’s my time to go, don’t forget, I Love You More!”
