It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Francisco Molina on January 27, 2025, at the age of 83.
Jose was born on March 19,1941 in Mante, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Francisco and Agustina (nee Carrizalez) Molina.
Raised in Mante, He was an only child, but was close with cousins Moye, Rosa, and Laura Carrizalez. He took part in several school activities such as soccer and band. He served as an altar boy for the Catholic Church. As a young man he began working at the local sugar mill where he inherited over 30 years of his father’s seniority. He then waived his position at the mill to relocate to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, to study Accounting at Monterrey’s Institute of Technology. Afterwards, he was an accountant for the American company Carrier. He also worked at a bank in Monterrey. In 1973, he traded in his white-collar attire for that of blue-collar attire when he moved to Houston, Texas in 1973, in pursuit of the American Dream. He took up work as a machinist for Bowen Tools, Inc. and retired after 20 years. He then relocated to Beeville in 1993. Always driven to continue working, he was employed for several years at Igloo in Katy, Beeville Community Action Agency’s Head Start, Galloway and Son’s Funeral Home, St. Mary’s Academy Charter School, and Beeville Independent School District.
In 1976, he met San Juanita Molina in Beeville on a chance stop passing through town. They married in 1977 and had two daughters, Patricia (Sanchez) and Veronica (Fuentes).
Jose enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports on television (particularly boxing), and listening to música tropical. Salsa music was his favorite. He was an avid long-distance runner most of his life. He can be remembered running several laps around Herman Park in Houston. He never ceased to amaze in his determination to get something done, like solely building additions to the family home. He was a problem solver and quite inventive. For example, he constructed his own exercise equipment and irrigations systems. In retirement, he always kept busy finding a new project to do at home, tending to grandchildren, and watching and reading the news. He was a disciplined yet passionate man.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Molina, and his mother Agustina Molina. Mother-in-law Paula Posada. Brother-in-laws Jose, Jerry, Frankie, and Jaime Posada. Sister-in-laws Mary Helen Flores and Rosalinda Posada. Nephew, Eric Posada.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, San Juanita Molina. Son, Jose Cesar Molina and his wife Silvia of Houston. Daughter Patricia Sanchez and her husband Juan of Beeville. Daughter Veronica Molina-Fuentes and her husband Michael of Beeville.
15 grandchildren: Cesar and Leslie Molina; Rogelio Pena, Lucero, Juan, Elizabeth, and Madizon Sanchez; Nathaniel Martinez, Sveva, Alexia, Victoria, Abram, Samuel, Emma, and Elena Fuentes. Three great grandchildren; Ana-Beth Pena and Cooper and Kylo Gomez.
