VICTORIA – Jose G. (Joe G.) Gonzales, 77, of Victoria, formerly of Beeville, passed away on September 25, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1945, in Stanton, Texas to Victor and Antonia (Solis) Gonzales. He married Sheryl Lightsey on February 14, 2009, in Victoria, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from the U.S. government as a civil service employee.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eduardo, and Manuel DelBosque and two sisters, Herminia ‘Minnie” DelBosque and Maria Elisa “Velde” Arrisola.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl L. Gonzales; one daughter, Linda (Nieves) Botello; his son, Joe Anthony (Tony) Gonzales; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Alexander (Ashley) Botello and Lauryn Alise (Brandon) Barrera; two great grandchildren, Aaliyah Botello and Layla Jae Barrera; four sisters, Juana (Manuel) Maldonado, Carmen (Jesse) Espinosa, Petra Garza, and Dolores (Lolly) Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, Sept. 30, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Fr. Isaias Estepa as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Serving as pallbearers are James DelBosque, Manuel DelBosque, John Gaona, Jr., Michael Garza, John Garcia, and Jarrett Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Montemayor, Teles Gomez, Rick Salinas, J.R. Robles, Ralph Giorn, Ralph Gonzalez, Juan Rendon, Martin Sanchez, and Larry Lopez.
