Mr. Johnny Alexander Young, 85, passed away on September 14, 2023. He was born on June 15, 1938, in Rockdale, TX. He married Rinda K. Young on August 12, 1961, in Alameda, California. Johnny grew up in Rockdale until 1948 when his family moved to Aransas Pass, TX. He graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1956. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1959 and retired as a Master Chief in 1980. He would soon enroll in Bee County College and later obtain an Associates in Drafting and Design. For 4 years he worked for Harris Engineering in Beeville before spending 10 years in civil service at Chase Field. After 10 years, he would retire to a life in Beeville with his wife, Rinda.
Johnny had a passion for little league baseball. He coached both his son and grandsons. He had a love for fishing, hunting deer and dove, as well as cows. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports activities.
For 56 years, Johnny served in the Masonic Lodge. He was an endowed member of Aransas, Beeville, and Rockdale Masonic Lodges. He was a past member of Alamita Lodge #200 in Kenedy, Texas. He served numerous chapters across the state. He even became the Preeminent Governor of the South Texas York Rite College and was a lifelong member of the Corpus Christi Scottish Rite Club and earned his 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Zena Young, sister Billie Joe Carrington, his wife of 61 years, Rinda Young, and one grandson, Cody Randall Jones. He is survived by two daughters, Julie (Harvey) Hardwick of George West and Jennie (Gilbert) Vandever of Beeville; one son, Douglas Roy (Tisha) Young of Stephenville, TX; one sister, Madie Young Tuma. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 9am on Thursday, September 21, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10am with Mr. Douglas Roy Young officiating.
