John William Thomson, Sr., loving Brother, Husband, Father and Uncle, of Beeville, formerly of Prescott Valley, Arizona entered into the Church Triumphant on Friday November 19, 2021, at the age of 84.
John was born in Galveston, Texas on February 3, 1937, to Jim and Pearl Thomson. He spent his career with Johns Manville working in commercial insulation, including work on the Alaska pipeline. He met and married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Lea White and moved to Whittier, California. They raised two sons, John Jr. and Michael. After retiring they built a beautiful home in Prescott Valley, AZ where they spent their time working faithfully and diligently for the Lord. John enjoyed ministering to the elderly, friends, and family. John and Gwen enjoyed travel, reading scripture, gospel music and working on their home.
He was known for his quick wit, his beautiful blue eyes and his infectious smile. He had a kind, compassionate and generous spirit. He moved to Beeville at the age of 82 after losing his loving wife and spent the last two years of his life with his dear sister, Betty Perkins. Niece Patty Johnson, Betty and John traveled extensively seeing this beautiful country.
John is preceded in death by his father, James (Jim); mother, Pearl; brothers, Robert Hugh (Bob), Richard Joseph (Dick), Kenneth MacDonald; his wife, Gwen; his son, James Michael. He is survived by sister Betty; son, John Jr; grandson, Shawn; three sisters-in-law, Sarah White, Carol Whitener and Bobbie Carroll. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation 2-5pm Saturday December 4th at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Home in Beeville, Texas with interment at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California.
