BEEVILLE – Jerry Barrera, 59, passed away on July 4, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on August 15, 1963, in Beeville, Texas to Ramon P. and Eloisa (Guerrero) Barrera. He married Monica Baldillez in June 1994 in Beeville. He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Beeville. Jerry was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church and a member of Holy Name Society.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Monica Lee Barrera; one brother, Henry Barrera and one sister, Maria Del Rosario G. Barrera.
He is survived by his daughter, Dezalynn Monique Barrera; two brothers, Ramon (Linda) Barrera, Jr and Vicente (Blanca) Barrera, Sr; three sisters, Myra (Ruben) Alvear, Laly (Freddy) Arteaga and Milinda Marisella Barrera.
A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Sunday, July 9, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm with the ladies of the Rosary Ministry from Our Lady of Victory Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, July 10, at Our Lady of Victory Church with Fr. Isaias Estepa as celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Serving as pallbearers are Ramon Jesus Barrera, Jesus Luis Barrera, Vicente Jay Barrera, Jorje Armando Barrera, Fred Barrera, Jr., Paul Sanchez, Juan Pablo Sanchez, and Javier Sanchez.
The honorary pallbearer is Richard Arredondo.
A luncheon will be held at the parish hall of Our Lady of Victory Church following the committal services. Everyone is invited to join the family for a meal and fellowship.
