Isobel “Chavelo” Gonzales, 80, entered his heavenly home on June 18, 2026. He is now at peace in the arms of his Savior. He was born on January 18, 1946, in Karnes City, Texas to Guillermo and Maria de Carmel (Rodriguez) Gonzales. He married Irene Andrea Brionez Gonzales on August 17, 1974, in Beeville, Texas. He worked in the construction industry and was also a truck driver. He retired from Ham and Garnett Trucking.
He was a faithful Servant of God and active in his church. He was a part of the Men’s Ministry and served as a trustee of the church. He was always ready and willing to help with yard work and cooking for events. He was a beloved member of Trinity Chapel Beeville. Due to his health, he was no longer able to serve the church in a physical capacity. Although, he was still able to serve the church with his faith, wonderful attitude, humor, love, and his contagious smile.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene B. Gonzales; two sisters, Celia Duenes and Priscilla Sanchez; brothers-in-law, Manuel Duenes, Mike Espinosa and Juan Sanchez and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Gonzales.
He is survived by his children, Mary Ochoa, Norma (Rene) Gonzales, Rita (JR) De La Cruz, Lilly May (Michael) Govella and J.D. (Lisa) Gonzales; his siblings, Benita (Rey) Guerrero, Yolanda Espinosa, Willie (Maggie) Gonzales, Jr., Armando Gonzales, Samuel Gonzales and Max (Yolanda) Gonzales. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, at Trinity Chapel Church, 300 S. Kathleen St., Beeville, Texas. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. with Rev. Brandon Sanders officiating. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 25, at Trinity Chapel with Rev. Sam Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at the Berclair Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, Matthias Govella, Rickey Cortez, Danny Guerrero, Ryan Olvera, Martin Silva and Hayden Garza. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Gonzales, Justin Govella, Jeremy Ochoa and Frank Ochoa, Jr.
