Herminia Cristan Obituary

Herminia (Minnie) Cristan, lovingly known as “Honey,” passed away on September 9, 2025, surrounded by her three children and sisters. Born on April 25, 1941, in Aransas Pass, Texas, Minnie made Beeville her home in 1969. She lived her life with quiet strength, fierce independence, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Pauline Rodriquez; siblings Johnny, Abelardo, Jessie, Estella, Richard Rodriquez, Antonia R. Longoria & Sobeida R. Delgado; and grandchildren Larisa Pauline & D.J. Rodriguez, and Gloria Cristan.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Joe (Veronica) Cristan, Anna (Tiny) Longoria, and Linda (David) Cristan-Rodriguez; grandchildren Leticia (Charles) Salinas, Leslie (Ben) Ehlers, Brandon Cristan, Jacob Rodriguez, Xavier Cristan, and Joshua Cristan; and great-grandchildren Arianna and Charles “Lil Chuck” Salinas, Thomas, Julia, and John Ehlers; her sisters, Irene Rogers, Angie Rendon and Femie Rodriguez; her half-sisters, Hermida De La Garza and Elida R. Ramos. She also leaves behind countless friends and extended family who she loved.

Minnie gave selflessly of her time and energy to her family and friends. She was a strong woman who believed in working hard and being an example of independence and love to others. She was employed by Beeville Independent School District for 40 years and worked as a teaching assistant, principal’s secretary, and nurse’s secretary, touching many young lives along the way.

Rarely idle, Minnie could be found daily tending her gardens, cooking, crafting, sewing and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. Her home was the most beautiful and welcoming place to all family friends. She loved to travel and spend time with her sisters and friends. She reminded those around her to love family first, respect your culture, and honor those who came before you. Her faith was evident in the way she lived, and we imagine our Lord greeting her with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

As the heart and matriarch of our family, there will never be another to fill the void she has left.  She was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren, and her love and guidance will continue to shape their lives. Reunited in Heaven with those she dearly missed, her family holds close the promise that they will be together again someday.

Carrying her to her final resting place are pallbearers, Brandon Cristan, Jacob Rodriguez, Charles "Lil Chuck" Salinas, Xavier Cristan, Joshua Cristan and Abel Rendon. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas and John Ehlers and Ruben Montez.
