BEEVILLE – George C. Gomez, 65, passed away on Friday, February 10, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on October 16, 1957, in Beeville, Texas to Telesforo and Petra (Chapa) Gomez. He married Mary Gaitan in Corpus Christi, Texas. George had worked as an oilfield worker in the petroleum industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Soveida G. Garcia, and Petra G. Flores.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gomez; one daughter, Deborah Kym (Kevin) Nelson; one son, Joseph Anthony (Lisa) Pelitire; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon, and Skylar Nelson, Alexis, Tristan, Kaitlyn, and Hunter Pelitire; two great grandchildren, Levi Pelitire and Jane Nelson; his seven siblings, Celia G. Perez, Jesus C. (Maria) Gomez, Linda G. (Augustin) Ortiz, Teles (Patricia) Gomez, Jr., Miguel G. Gomez, Israel “Wally” C. (Mary) Gomez and Joe Frank Gomez.
A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, Feb. 17, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. The holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Valayath serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Jordan Nelson, Brandon Nelson, Tristan Pelitire, Hunter Pelitire, Levi Pelitire, Cal Garcia, Raymond Flores, Alexis Pelitire, Kaitlyn Pelitire and Skylar Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers are Mike Baggio and Anthony Pelitire.
