Elvira Hernandez Obituary

BEEVILLE  - Elvira Hernandez, 77,passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. She was born on August 24, 1945, in Bee County, Texas to Merced and Maclovia (Medina) Hernandez. She had worked several years for Lack’s Furniture Store and had  recently worked for the Bee County Sheriff's Office. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the OLV Saint Anne Society.


     She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Merced Hernandez; two sisters, Rufina Lara and Loysa Salinas and her two children, Valerie Tapia, and Porfirio Tapia, IV.


     She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Tapia, Yolanda Martin, and Vanessa (Alex) Paiz; her grandchildren, Erika (Kurt) Trevino, Adrian (Alondra) Segovia, Abby (Alex Hernandez) Levine, Franny Levine, Mya (Jackson Hughes) Martin, Jeremy Levine, Jayden Paiz and Sadie Martin Hill; honorary grandchildren, Melissa Martinez, Joseph Olivarez, and Jacob Olivarez; one great granddaughter, Arely Segovia and two sisters, Susana Perez, and Jacinta Hernandez. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and close friends.


     A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, June 23, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum reciting. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 24, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Valayath as celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas.


     Serving as pallbearers are Adrian Segovia, Jeremy Levine, Franny Levine, Mya Martin, Frank Ruiz, Gilbert Olivarez, Joseph Arrellano and Matthew Hernandez.


     Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Bee County Sheriff’s Department.
