Elena G. Garza

BEEVILLE – Elena (Nena) Garcia Garza, 78, passed away on April 24, 2022, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on August 18, 1943, in George West, Texas to Simon R. and Victoria (Mosqueda) Garcia. She married Simeon B. Garza on July 24, 1963, in Beeville, Texas.

     She was a devoted parishioner of St. James Catholic Church for over 50 years. She had served as a eucharistic minister and was a cursillista member. Elena also served as a CCD teacher and was a CYO sponsor.

     She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Lilly Garcia, Soveida Cruz and Josefina Handy; one brother, David Garcia and one granddaughter, Angelica Ruiz.

     She is survived by two daughters, Irene (Tino) Ruiz and Sally (Gonzalo) Tovar and one son, Simeon Garza. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

     Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Thursday, April 28, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, April 29, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Camillo Botello as celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
