Domingo “Mingo” Rodriguez, 82, of Beeville Texas passed from this life the afternoon of July 23, 2025, with his family by his side in Corpus Christi Texas. Domingo was born September 18, 1942, to Martin and Nieves Rodriguez in San Diego Texas. He graduated from San Diego High School and served in the United States Army National Guard for 3 years and worked for Firestone. Mingo retired as a postmaster after 28 years of service with the United States Postal Service. He met the love of his life Domitila “Tillie” Hawkins when he went to work at Lacks Furniture. They married on October 27, 1967. He is preceded in death by his wife Domitila Rodriguez of 56 years and his son Louis Rodriguez (Melissa) and his brothers Robert (Louisa), Martin (Felipa), Manuel (Edna) and his sisters Celina (George) and Lena.
He is survived by his sister Santos (Gilberto), Hector (Val), Jesse (Bertha) and his two sons Daniel Rodriguez (Tammy), Rene Rodriguez (girlfriend Amanda). He is also survived by his grandchildren Darian Rodriguez, Sela Rodriguez, Alanis Rodriguez, Logan Rodriguez, Bailey Rodriguez, Sherri Rodriguez, Caleb Rodriguez, Brynlee Rodriguez, Kyle, Kenny, Danielle and Ryan and three great grandchildren Landon, Carter and Luka.
He was an active member of St Joseph's Catholic Church since 1975 and devoted to praying to the holy rosary. He was also an active member of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration of Beeville since March 29, 1992, and was an active member of the Divine Mercy Society. His passion was for his family from being all his sons’ coaches, Impeccable husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and second father to all three sons' friends and teammates. His second love and passion were for sports, his favorite teams were the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and the Dallas Cowboys. He will be deeply missed by all that was blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held from 3-8pm on Friday, August 1, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, August 2, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date at Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Rodriguez, Larry Favre, Tony Garcia, Lance Tindol, Carlos Martinez and John Beltran. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Everett, Eloy Rodriguez and Felix Rodriguez.
