Cordelia Staples Sparks, lovingly known as “Connie,” entered God’s heavenly kingdom on June 6 , 2026, where she was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Wilford, and her son, Lee, and Patsy, her loving daughter in law.
She leaves behind a family who cherished her deeply: her daughter, Janet Sparks (Bill) Andrews; her grandchildren, Terri (John) Cornett, Kevin (Cindy) Sparks, Cherri Sparks, William K. Andrews, Jr. (Amy), and Colin B. Andrews.
She was further blessed with a large and loving legacy of great-grandchildren: Brandy Sparks, Jakob (Yazmin) Sparks, Travis (Jodie) Cornett, Ethan (Brooke) Cornett, Colton (Autumn) Cornett, Bridget Cornett, William K. Andrews, III, Colette Andrews, and Crosby Andrews. Connie was also the proud great-great-grandmother of Louise Cornett, Joey Cornett, Ruby Cornett, Deliliah Cornett, Madison Cole, Waylon Cornett, Riley Cornett, Patsy Cornett, Johnny Cornett, Emily Sparks, Annie Sparks, George Cornett, and William Cornett.
Connie was born on February 2, 1924, in Tuleta, Texas, to Walter Ross and Ola Belle Staples. She was the youngest girl of a large family of 9 children. On April 17, 1942, she married Wilford Sparks, the love of her life, beginning a marriage rooted in devotion and enduring love.
Connie lived a remarkable life of more than 102 years, a life marked by strength, grace, and steadfast faith. She witnessed extraordinary chapters of history, including the Great Depression and a devastating world war, yet through every season she carried herself with quiet courage and enduring hope.
She will be remembered for the warmth of her heart, the joy she so freely shared, and the gentle, caring spirit that touched all who knew her. Her love for family, friends, and even those beyond her immediate circle was the quiet light of her life. In that love, she reflected the teachings of Christ, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and grace that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a deeply treasured grandmother whose presence was a blessing to her family.
Her family gives heartfelt thanks to the Lord for Connie, whose life so beautifully reflected the love of Christ.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, June 10, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 11, at Oak Park Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Stowe officiating. Interment will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Travis Cornett, Kevin Sparks, Bill Andrews, Jakob Sparks, Kenton Andrews, Colin Andrews, Bridget Cornett and Brandy Cole. Honorary pallbearers are Colton Cornett and Ethan Cornett.
