Carolina Sauceda Obituary

Carolina Hernandez Sauceda was born March 4, 1939, to Pedro Garza Hernandez and Maria Segovia Hernandez, in Beeville, TX. Carolina was orphaned at a young age, as her mother died of tuberculosis when she was just an infant and her father died when she was only twelve years old.

Carolina was the youngest of six children and raised by her loving siblings: Delfino, Delia, Lupe, Benny, and Maria – along with numerous family members who helped provide her with the love and support in which helped shaped her big, beautiful heart and spirit.  Though she endured a life of triumph and great loss beginning at such a young age, she never wavered in showing how much the Lord gave her faith and strength to persevere.

A lifelong member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Carolina married the love her life, Simon Sauceda Jr. on April 20, 1959.  Together, Carolina and Simon raised four children, Richard Salazar Jr., Javier Sauceda, Norma Sauceda Rodriguez, and Rose Sauceda Hackman. Carolina and Simon spent forty-six loving years together until Simon was called into heaven on July 24, 2005.

Carolina was a homemaker and caretaker, as she spent most of her life looking after others, the way she herself was shown to be cared for and nurtured by her older siblings and family.  Family and faith were undoubtingly the greatest necessities and blessings of her life.  Throughout her days you could often see Carolina either cooking big wholesome meals, upkeeping the house Simon had built for her, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and playfully singing and dancing to oldies as she blissfully remembered the fruitful days of her youth. Carolina also greatly enjoyed shopping, dressing up for church, the smell of good perfume, and feeling beautiful – as she was always well kept and admired by many.

Carolina would commonly be heard saying, “Tu quieres comer?” to anyone and everyone who was welcomed into her home; she kept her door open and the comal always warm for her loved ones. “Colé” was silly, quick witted, charming, blessed, and the most amazing and beautiful matriarch of our family.

In Memory of Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and she who blessed this earth with four children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A holy rosary will be recited at 10:00 am and the funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am with Fr. Richard Gonzales as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Roland Rodriguez, Jake Garcia, Daniel Guerrero, Sergio Elizalde, Anthony Villarreal, Michael Sauceda, Logan Trevino, and Joe Rivas. Honorary pallbearers are Trey Garza, Lazaro Garza, Anthony Salazar, Dominic DiSenso, Bennet Felps and Cash Guerrero.
