Baldemar “Balde” P. Loya, 86, passed away on May 6, 2025. He was born on June 28, 1938, in Beeville, Texas to Miguel and Esther (Perez) Loya. He married Palmira Rodriguez on May 22, 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had retired from the Bee Community Action Agency after several years of service as the Transportation Director. Music was his true love, and he became a founder of Mariachi Tejano.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Esther Loya and three sisters, Maria Cantu, Consuelo Sanchez and Virginia DeLaGarza.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Palmira “Polly” Loya and his children, Belinda Martinez, Jayson Loya, Richard (Gina) Loya, Jiecelle (Frank) Flores and Anna Loya. He is also survived by a sister, Angie Staser and his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, May 9, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, May 10, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Fr. Isaias Estepa as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Joseph Martinez, Joshua Loya, Lucas Flores, Blake Alaniz, Christopher Alaniz, Luka Arrisola and Jayven Martinez.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville, Cristal Estrada with Exclusive Home Health, Chris Linney, Mariann Martinez and to the Lightburne Street friends and neighbors.
