Avel Casarez, Sr., 87, passed away with his family by his side on February 29, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1937, in Clareville, Texas to the late Eliseo and Sofia (Martinez) Casarez.
Avel is preceded in death by his wife, Josefa Casarez; one son, Abel Casarez, Jr and her brother, Adam Casarez.
He is survived by his son, Ricky (Rachel) Casarez; his daughter, Joanna (Roland) Trevino; siblings, Eva Garcia, Esmeralda Acosta, Anita Falcon, and Felia Arciba. He is also survived by two beloved grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, March 11, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 am with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. Interment will be held at the San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Alex Acosta, Cesar Falcon, Eddie Garcia, Roland Trevino, Adam Casarez and Chris Aleman.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Citizens Medical Center and Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center.
