Adelina (Martinez) Gomez, beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on January 11, 2026 at the age of 86. Fondly known as Lina, she was born on August 10, 1939, in Beeville to Derlin and Adela Martinez. A graduate of A.C. Jones High School (Class of 1958), she married her high school sweetheart, Jose Arturo “Art” Gomez, on August 31, 1958.
A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lina lived a life rooted in faith, joy, and love for family. She dedicated 20 years to the Bee Community Action Agency/Headstart Program working in the transportation department before retiring. In her later years, she cherished time with loved ones, enjoyed social gatherings, and found joy in simple moments.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arturo Gomez Jr.; parents-in-law, Catarina and Arturo Gomez Sr.; great-granddaughter, Mireya Reyes; and grandson, Carlos Derlin Galvan.
Lina is survived by five children: Derlina (Constantino) Villegas of Calallen, Susie Ann Gomez of Corpus Christi, Arthur Derlin Gomez (Gustavo Fernandez) of Carrollton, Joseph Michael Gomez of New Braunfels, and Derlin Alberto Gomez of New Braunfels. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Her legacy of love and faith will live on through them and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 12 noon on Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm with Father Pete Elizardo officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers include, Kristoffer Gomez, Javier Villegas, Artie Galvan, Mikey Gomez, Ivan Gomez, and Victor Guzman
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville and Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline in Corpus Christi, Angel Bright Hospice Care and to her providers, Le Ann Becerra and Annadina “Nena” Flores.
