Floyd "Cotton" Walters, 78, of Sandia, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his home. He was born June 3, 1933 in Coy City, Texas the son of Truman Wayne and Cynthia Mary Walters. He was a retired supervisor with Getty and Texaco Oil Companies. He was well known for his athletic abilities with the Pettus Eagles. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Myra Williamson Walters of Sandia; daughter Carol Lynn Broerman of Sandia; sons Robert Lee Walters of Midland and Floyd Darrell Walters of Sandia; sister Ann West of Salem, Arkansas and brothers Norman Walters of Corpus Christi and Homer Walters of Pettus. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tex and Truman "Red" Walters and sister Peggy Walters Hudman. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Arrington officiating. Interment will follow at the Mineral Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ty Walters, Devin Walters, Jason Walters, Brian Walters, Colby Lee, Chris Lee, Emmet Lee and Paul Broerman. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Little, Jimmy Little, Pat Smith and John Lee. Memorials may be made to the South Texas Childrens Home in Mineral, Texas.
