BEEVILLE - Cornelia Alvarez, 88, surrounded by her family went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the afternoon of October 30th, 2017. She was born in Beeville, Tx to the late Jose and Maria (Silva) DelBosque. She married Raul Franco Alvarez on Aug. 29, 1953 in Beeville. She had retired from JCPenney Department Store as a sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Judy (Frank Montez) Benavidez; two brothers, Fabian and Vicente DelBosque; two sisters, Consuelo Stewart and Felicita Trevino; four half-brothers, Agapito, Jose, Felipe and Gonzalo DelBosque and one half-sister, Santos Arredondo.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda (Robert) Coley, JoAnn (Daniel) Alvarez, Sylvia (Thomas) Brown all of Beeville and Grace Lewis of Austin, Tx. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 3-9pm. A rosary will be recited at 7pm. The body of Mrs. Alvarez will lie in state at 9am on Friday, Nov. 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am with Fr. Richard Gonzales officiating. A horse drawn carriage procession will follow with interment at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Serving as pallbearers are Christopher J. Garcia, John Charles Gonzales, John Gabriel Benavidez, David Gonzales, Jr, Joseph Anthony Gonzales, Marcus Avery Lewis and Iverson Chance Chambers.
